Heron Series -- "Air Transport"

Great Blue Heron 
at South Venice, FL 

The herons and egrets on the island rookery fly to the shore and back with sticks (even whole trees) for nest building and mating/bonding rituals. It provides great opportunities for flight shots, but its still difficult to get good backgrounds, poses, and lighting. Shot on Provia-F with a 400mm lens at f-9 at 1/300sec.
