Egret Series  -- "Resting Egret"

Great Egret 
at South Venice, FL 

Classic early morning pose at the rookery. This bird is in splendid breeding plumage, with a full cape (nuptial train) of white plumes and brilliant green lores. (The lores are a skin area between the eye and the bill.) Other images in this series show the plumes extended.  Velvia film at ISO-50 with a 1200mm lens at f-8 and 1/400sec. (Color matrix metering with -0.7 compensation.)
